Elements of Competency Performance Criteria              
Element: Confirm competence requirements for rail safety workers
  • Rail safety worker activities and/or tasks being undertaken within an organisation are identified and mapped in accordance with rail transport operator and rail safety legislation requirements
       
Element: Task analysis is conducted in accordance with workplace policies and procedures
       
Element: Safety task analysis is conducted to identify the skills and knowledge required to carry out rail safety work in accordance with the relevant rail network rules and procedures
       
Element: Existing competency standards are identified and validated against relevant rail safety work to be carried out
       
Element: Where no competency standards currently exist, the knowledge and skills of the worker are assessed to enable the worker to carry out the rail safety work safely
       
Element: Implement, manage and monitor rail safety worker systems
  • Competency training and assessment plans are identified, monitored and reviewed in accordance with the relevant rail transport operator and rail safety legislation requirements
       
Element: Appropriate training and assessment providers are identified, and delivery and assessment plans are developed to meet organisational and regulatory requirements
       
Element: Rail safety worker competency register is monitored and maintained in accordance with relevant rail transport operator and rail safety legislation requirements

Assessment Tasks

Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.
